Completing the examination

Once you have finished your examination you need to let your patient know. Remember to thank them for their co-operation and to ask if they have any questions about the examination. This is also a good time to think about summarising your findings. Often you will have to record what you have found in the patients notes or explain your findings to an examiner or teacher. It is good practice to get in the habit of thinking about what you have seen and ultimately coming to a diagnosis.
