In submitting samples to the laboratory it is important to package it correctly.  In general, the specimen should be enclosed in its firmly sealed container in a sealed polythene bag  containing vermiculite  or other absorbent material. It should be placed in a strong cardboard box  and submitted in a padded envelope. A submission form with the animalís details and a description of the lesion should be placed in a separate polythene bag within the package to prevent any leakage interfering with the writing.  It may be helpful to read the regulations for sending pathological specimens through the post.
